Drabbles for The Professionals

Bodie

(Keywords: Fugitive; Justice)

Bodie sometimes felt he had been running all his life.

Running away to sea. Running to Angola. Running from Angola to the army.

Always running towards something different, something new.

So why did he suddenly want to start running from something? From someone, to be exact. He had never run from anyone in his life.

There was no justice in this life, he thought resentfully. None whatsoever. Partnered with this scruffy ex-copper, it had never occurred to him to guard his self-containment.

How was it his partner had turned him into a fugitive from the strength of his own emotions?

Doyle

(Keyword: Graveyard)

Doyle leant against the carved angel, breathing heavily. Thank god Bodie wasn’t shadowing him. He’d threatened to, Doyle’s first attempt at a run since the shooting, but Doyle wasn’t having that. If he was going to be humiliated, it would be in private, thank you very much. As private as a graveyard can be at 6am. He’d woken early, creeping out, determined to discover just how bad it would be.

It was pretty bad. The damp chill seeping through his tracksuit bottoms startled him. He was no longer leaning but sitting on wet grass.

Damn. Damn.

“Need a hand, mate?”
